Palaruvi falls is believed to heal you with its milky white freshwater owing to the course of the river which staggers through an array of medicinal plants and herbal flowers. Stray a couple of minutes away from this frothy waterfall, and you would reach the dense tropical forest, an ideal picnic spot with the picturesque view of the hazy blue mountains and Palaruvi that cascades its way down from 300 feet above. Famous for its seven-step waterfall, Thommankuthu is an ideal place for adventure tourism. Other attractions include: pedal boating, forest trekking, night camping etc.
The Rainbow Waterfalls which cascades down a rock from a height of about 1,500 m is a major attraction at this spot. It can be seen throughout the year in all its splendour. The forest here houses various medicinal plants. It is also an ideal place for rock climbing, mountaineering, camping and trekking.
The Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls are located between Neriamangalam and Adimali on the Kochi-Madurai Highway. The Cheeyappara Waterfall, which cascades in seven steps, is a real feast for the eyes. This is also a great place for trekking.
Located 21 km away from Munnar and seven km away from Rajakkadu, Sree Narayanapuram Ripple Watefalls is a great stopover while travelling on the Kochi - Dhanushkodi highway. Being a perennial waterfall, this is a must see sight when in Idukki.
A beautiful picnic spot by the Iruvanji river near Thiruvambady, these falls attract many visitors. The terrain being rocky and steep, many cascades are formed along the course of the river.
Famous for its trekking tracks, Thusharagiri is located near Vythiri in Wayanad. Waterfalls and streams are abound in this hilly region. Trekkers have to start early morning from the second waterfall and climb uphill through the pristine, dense and evergreen forest populated with exotic birds and wildlife to reach Vythiri by evening. The place is also rich in rubber, arecanut, pepper, ginger and spice plantations.
Aruvikuzhy is a beautiful picnic spot and an ideal shooting location for movies. Aruvikuzhy Waterfalls, falling in five steps, is a real feast for the eyes. Here streams make their way through the landscape and the water roars as it cascades down the mountains from a height of 100 ft. It is an ideal place for trekking and is located in the midst of rubber plantations. The famous St. Mary's Church is situated at the top of the waterfalls.
Dhoni Hills in Palakkad is slowly turning into a famous picnic spot. The trek from the base area is a three hour trip to the reserve forest area where the view is extremely beautiful. The scenic visuals on display throughout the climb keep the trekkers' adrenaline rushing. Enjoy the guided walk conducted by Department of Forest to reach the waterfall. Originating from Thuppanadu River at the height of 5 to 45 meters, Meenvallam is a step by step waterfall. Visitors can opt for a mini trek from the parking area to the waterfalls. Entry fee: Adult Rs. 20/- Ph: 8547602075.
The waterfall, also called Kalakkayam, is created by the Mankayam river that originates in the Agasthyavanam forest. A pool formed at the base of the waterfall is worth a dip. The forest adjacent to the waterfall is also a great spot to watch birds and other species of fauna and flora. A trail along the stream to explore the sights on either side is yet another option for those who would love to walk around a bit.
It is located in the Kadakkal Panchayat and is replete with winding streams and rocks.
Meenmuttypara Waterfalls in the Mallappally panchayat is the main tourist attraction here. The St. Mary's Orthodox Church and Kalloopara Devi Temple in a single compound reflects the communal harmony prevalent in the region. Also located here are the Ezhumattor Panamattathu Kavu Devi Temple and the Kottangal Devi Temple.
Smaller than the Sentinel Rock, the nearby Kanthanpara falls and its surroundings make for an ideal picnic spot.
The Meenmutty waterfalls located close to the Banasura Sagar Dam is a charming picnic spot that can be reached with a short one km trek. The area is also ideal for a quick nature walk.
This is one of Wayanad's lesser known seasonal waterfalls. Though it tends to dry up during summer, it is a lovely place to visit, and trekking enthusiasts will enjoy the climb up the rocks to the waterfall.
The road to Palchuram is long, winding and dotted with dense tea plantations. This coy waterfall is perhaps Kannur's best kept secret.
